I never sat down one day and decided to be a writer. Stories just kept showing up … in quiet moments, in dreams I couldn’t explain, in the questions that didn’t have easy answers. Eventually, I started listening. Then I started writing.

My name is Desiree Granby. I’m a writer, a teacher, and a mother of one. I write fantasy fiction shaped by wonder, curiosity, and faith … the kind that doesn’t rush to explain everything, but invites us to stay present in mystery.

I’m drawn to characters who wrestle with doubt and still choose hope. To worlds that are unfamiliar, magical, and somehow speak to something true. Writing, for me, is not about control. It’s about surrender. It’s how I process, how I pray, how I stay open.

When I’m not writing, I’m making music or playing video games with my son, moments of pure magic and connection. As a teacher, I’m inspired by the spark in a student’s eye when they discover something new, and as a mother, I cherish the small adventures and big imaginations we share.

I’m not here to teach or preach. I’m here to tell stories that make space. And if one of mine gives you a reason to slow down or feel less alone, I’m deeply grateful.
